Sharing the message of accessible trick or treating with
Federal Minister Karina Gould M.P.

Transcript

RICH PADULO: Hi, my name is Rich Padulo. I'm the founder of Treat Accessibly.

Our family founded the movement to create an accessible inclusion experience for kids with disabilities at Halloween that may not be able to treat because of barriers like stairs.

Children with mobility, sensory, or intellectual disabilities.

There's over four hundred thousand kids that benefit from this movement. This is the first sign that we created in 2017.

As of 2021 over a hundred thousand of these signs are now available and in use across the country.  We hope to get four hundred thousand going by 2025 in homes.

And this is Federal Minister Karina Gould to help us share the message this year in 2022.

FEDERAL MINISTER KARINA GOULD: So first of all I want to say a big thank you to Rich and his daughter Siena who started this initiative to make sure that trick-or-treating can be accessible for kids of all abilities across this country.

It's so exciting that a hundred thousand homes from coast to coast to coast have put out these signs to make sure that Halloween can be something that all of our children can enjoy.

It's really easy to do.  You bring out your treats to the end of your driveway to make sure that you know kids can access them you can get one of these signs and Rich will tell you about how to do that.

but it's one way to make sure that Halloween a tradition that so many of us love and have fond memories of is available and accessible to all of Canada's children.

RICH PADULO: Thank you so much and to get your own free lawn sign visit treataccessibly.com and we'll get it to you.
